What a setting! What a meet!

A huge crowd turned out today to see a large mounted field gather for a super meet laced with Bullshot and super nibbles. Very many thanks to "S" and "T" - the Bullshot was particularly welcome in a wind that had a real edge to it.

From certain angles there was nothing in view that did not belong to age of Jane Austen who had associations with the neighbouring estate  to which the trail-layers took the pack. Austen died in 1817, just three years after the start of the East Kent Foxhounds. In fact Austen visited this corner just one year before the East Kent was formally named.

Hounds, Staff and the Field left the meet through an avenue of ancient Chestnuts. Whatever have they shaded in their time?
